All Good Things...

...and all maniacal, mental, crazy things must come to an end.

It's not here yet but the beginning of the end is for Tia - she has cancer of some sort.  No official diagnosis: as she's 13+yrs old, and gets extremely stressed about any kind of medical handling (even just me looking at a sore leg), she's not a candidate for any surgery and whatever is wrong is inside her so qould require major invasive surgery to sort out, if indeed anything could actually be done.

But blood tests, symptoms and the process of elimination indicate that she has a tumour (or more than one), most likely in her liver, pancreas or spleen.  So pain management is the order of the day: she's been on tramadol since she started hurting last Thursday, and the dose is up as of tonight.  We'll be reassessing in a week; I expect the tramadol will work for a while yet but other options will be looked at as they are needed.  Whatever it takes to keep her happy and comfortable so she can continue to enjoy her walks and badger River.

Plans are afoot for fun; sometime in the next week I'll be taking her to Normanby Hall, a local manor house with extensive grounds that are lovely to have a potter (or charge about) in; and whilst she's pretty much fine with other dogs now, any there have to be on lead too so that's one less thing to worry about: she can just enjoy herself.

I also have a photoshoot booked for next Thursday, so long as she's up to it (it's a 45 minute drive so whether it happens will be entirely dependant on her being comfortable); just me, her and the photographer in a private studio with lots of fun and treats.
